We're looking for dedicated Nelly Furtado fans to help make quilt-blocks devoted to Nelly for a special quilt we are creating and auctioning off (with 100% of the proceeds going to Nelly Furtado's favorite charity The Land Conservancy.) While the quilt will consist of blocks made by her fans, Nelly Furtado will be contributing to the finished quilt by personalizing the center square herself! Plus, if your block is selected for the final quilt, you'll win an autographed photo from Nelly Furtado.

Here's what to do:
1.) Create your quilt block in honor of Nelly Furtado and her music.
(See below for details and requirements.)
2.) Click Here to print and fill out an entry form
3.) Mail your entry form and quilt block to:

Make It You Nelly Furtado Fan Quilt
3201 W. Cahuenga Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90068

In order to be a part of this amazing opportunity, your entry form and quilt block must be postmarked by August 31st. Be as creative as you'd like and most of all have fun!!!

Don't know where to start? Already a quilting pro?

Either way, only a couple rules apply, but the inspiration is endless - the background of the block must be made of fabric (so it will sew together with the other blocks), and it must finish at 12" square. You also need to fill out this form and included it with your finished quilt block.

Now, need some project supplies to help make your block fabulous and unique? Looking for a little guidance? Have no fear, MIY is here!

Here are a few samples of quilt blocks that would be perfect to make your own. Just click on any of the thumbnails below, and you'll get detailed instructions on how to cut your fabric and sew it together. These are just a few ideas - feel free to improvise and personalize to fully express yourself!

Once you've got the background of your quilt, here are a few more
ideas to make your quilt block unmistakably you!

1) Print one of these pictures (or one of your own) on ink jet printable fabric, and either piece it together with the other fabrics (maybe make it the center of the block), or appliqué it onto the background. (Raw-edge appliqué looks especially cool.)

2) Use permanent fabric markers to write lyrics or a poem or message to or about Nelly Furtado.
3) Use a concert t-shirt, cut it up and piece it together with the other fabrics.
4) Use L'Orna Touch Wand to add crystals or rhinestuds.
5) Use So You, Sew Fun fabrics for added color and fun.
6) Appliqué original shapes and patches in a cinch with fast2fuse double-sided fusible interfacing.
7) Use fabric stamps to add style and flare.
8) Get lots of ideas from Fast, Fun & Easy® Scrapbook Quilts and other craft titles from C&T Publishing.
9) The absolute best place to go is your local quilt shop or sewing machine dealer, where they can show you all sorts of amazing things to do with your sewing machine, like embroidery and decorative stitches!

Show us your best stuff, and show Nelly Furtado your appreciation by
