Issue #3

September 12, 2001

WELCOME

Here's your source for all the latest and greatest in the world of Sheryl Crow. In this issue, you'll find tour diaries written by Chris Hudson (Sheryl's tour manager), exclusive pictures from the shows, and news that you won't want to miss!

THE LATEST SCOOP

Sheryl & Hank: Sheryl was invited to record her own interpretation of Hank Williams' "Long Gone Lonesome Blues" for a tribute record due to be released Sept 25th on Mercury Records. Sheryl got together with Peter Stroud and Tim Smith in early February '01 at Treasure Island Studios in Nashville and they laid the track down in a day. Other artists on the record are Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Beck, Hank Jr. and others. You don't necessarily need to like Hank to enjoy this recording. In fact, this may be a great way to sample some of the music from a man that has almost certainly influenced some of your own musical heroes.

TV NEWS

Sheryl Airs on Oxygen Sept. 18th: Some of you may remember from an earlier newsletter diary insert that Sheryl spent some time in Montana as a guest on the TV show "Freeride with Greta Gaines." The series is hosted by an athletic and attractively gregarious Ms. Gaines. The basis of the show is to take a subject, get hold of a celebrity, and then mix the two and shoot it. In this case, the subject was the music and story telling talents of the Blackfeet Indians. There should also be a few minutes on how hard it is to find a Grizzly bear without the aid of a rotting carcass ... but I needn't elaborate in words ... see it for yourself on Oxygen TV, Tuesday Sept 18th 10pm EST.

Sheryl with Stevie Nicks on the Today Show Sept. 21st: Sheryl will be performing with Stevie Nicks on the Today Show (NBC) on September 21st. Check your local listings!

TOUR DIARY

Thanks to Sheryl's tour manager, Chris Hudson, we have a wonderful look at life on the road. The following are from a few shows Sheryl did last month! Click the link to read on:

Sturgis: Snakes & Harleys
excerpt: When I looked at her asleep on the plane, if someone had told me then that the Sturgis show was going to be one of the best she'd played for a while I would have never believed them. It really was a great show. Click here to read more...

Sioux Falls: Funnel Cakes & Golf Carts
excerpt:
Show began on the dot at 9pm. As Sturgis was such a successful set Sheryl decided to run the same one again and it worked great. No new stuff by the way, apart from one song "Abilene" which has in fact been a song in her possession for some time now. Click here to read more...

Billings: Battle of the Little Bighorn
excerpt
: A few hours were spent following Robin and Emerson around the site as they told us stories of the famous Battle, the relationship of the Crows with Custer (many of Custer's scouts were from the Crow tribe), and Native Indian life in general. Sheryl was asked the inevitable question - was she in any way tied to the Crow tribe? Click here to read more...
